My Writing Problem

I apologize that I am not posting as often, I am having a hard time thinking of what to write 😁.  As you pretty much all know by now, I love to read. I also love to write, for the past few years I have tried and tried again to come up with a great plot for a book and unfortunately, I keep coming up with new ideas, but I always get stuck. I can write ideas and scenes, but I have a hard time transitioning scenes. As the result of this problem, I have an unfortunate tendency to give up the idea all together. To try and fix this problem I have consolidated my ideas into two books, one an original fantasy book and the other, a combination of fairytales and other stories (I will only be using the characters). But unfortunately, right now I have writer's block. I can't come up with anything good! It is a very sad time to go through, especially if you love writing like I do. I am hoping that it goes away soon so I can keep writing my book(s). I tried to write some yesterday and I wrot

Review: The Chosen Season 4

I am sure that most of you have heard of The Chosen before and maybe you were highly anticipating its newest season like I was but a few months ago The Chosen released season 4 came in theaters! Lucky for you, I had the opportunity to watch every episode and I have to say that the nine hours of sitting in the theater was completely worth it!

If you have not watched The Chosen, you might not want to read this blog. It doesn't have any spoilers, but it won't make sense. You should go watch the show if you haven't yet, its pretty good.

Here is the Season 4 Official Trailer! 😁

Overall

While watching season four of The Chosen you can literally feel that things are becoming heavier as the disciples, their families, and those around them learn that what is going on around them is bigger than what they had originally thought. The time is moving much closer to the death and resurrection so that adds a lot of stress, pressure, and sadness on Jesus in addition to the fact that his disciples don't understand what is happening and what he is teaching them. This season is about the weight and stress that Jesus' is carrying as the time is nearing his crucifixion.

In this season there are three large events that happen (which I won't spoil for you!), some are happy and exciting to watch, and some are sad. I am not usually a person that cries when watching a movie or show but some of the scenes in this season were kind of hard to watch.

Pros

The Chosen is pretty close to what you would find in the Bible, of course since some things are added, I would encourage you to read in the Bible what you just watched.

All of the things that are added are there to help lead up to the main events that happen in the Bible and to provide background for the people since not much is said about everyone.

For an example:

"The Twelve were with him, and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases:

Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out,

Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod's household;

Susanna; and many others.

These women were helping to support them out of their own means."

                                                                                                                Luke 8: 1-3, NIV

In The Chosen Mary and Joanna are seen in many of the scenes and episodes. While there are a few verses about them in the Bible not enough was said to have a complete story. So, the gaps needed to be filled, Mary still had demons cast out of her and Joanna is still the wife of Chuza, who is the manager of Herod's house. I am not sure about Joanna having been sick or having demons cast out of her in the show, but her character hasn't been expanded much. I don't think Susanna is even in The Chosen right now.

Slowly, the show is building up certain characters for events that are going to happen. Because of this reason some background was added to the characters Thomas and Judas to explain why they would have acted the way that they did in the Bible, but it makes sense, and it doesn't change anything.

Watching The Chosen has made me notice and realize things that I wouldn't have thought about like how the disciples reacted and how it took them some time to adjust to certain changes (season 4 episode 2). Or John 11: 35 (Jesus wept), I've read it before, and yeah, I know that Jesus wept but I never really paid much attention to the fact that Jesus was actually very sad.

Cons

Content is added, and yes, it is added for a reason, but this is one of the controversial topics about The Chosen. Some of the added background doesn't all really need to be there, it makes sense, but I think it is hard for the makers of The Chosen to not stray away much with subplots and to stay directly with the Bible without changing anything.

Rating

Because things are gradually becoming heavier and because of some of the things that happen in this season I would give this season a PG rating. I know that the show is already rated this, but it makes sense. I would probably say ages over 7 because of some of the violence, it doesn't really show it, but you can still feel it.
